Article Marketing – Selling Your Articles – Where to Start

If you have an entire archive of articles gathering dust in your computer storage, here’s how to put it to good use and start making some money:

• Many online business owners have no time to generate their own content. There is always a need for advertising and sales copy and electronic magazine articles. Speak to your existing contacts, network at parties and email business owners who run online shops and magazines. Offer to contribute for free, and make yourself invaluable so they will keep coming back to you. Before you know it, you’ve got yourself a steady writing job.

• Join freelancing sites. Getacoder.com is an example of a website that allows members to post and bid for writing projects. There are thousands of businesses out there that are looking for ghostwriters, and depending on your experience and feedback given by your previous clients, you can charge between $ 1 and $ 10 an article. However, if you are new, you might want to charge a little less just to gain a steady number of long-term clients. Suite101.com is also a great place to showcase your work because they allow you to include your by-line and send regular emails on how to improve your writing. Further, they provide a wide range of topics for you to choose from so you can write about anything you want, and get paid for it.

• Sell your articles to webmasters who are just waiting to buy content for their websites. Instead of selling articles individually, package them in lots of five or ten articles.

• The printed word still holds a certain degree of power. Print some of your articles, include your by-line, contact information and website presence, and distribute them to business owners. If your work parallels their business, they are likely to refer to your work online.
