You gotta love yourself first. Love is really and truly the solution to everything. You don’t have love to give, love to share and love to put into your projects until you first know true love for you.
You gotta love yourself first. To do that, you need to know who you are, who you truly are–who you were at birth.
Realize that loving yourself first is not selfish. It is mandatory. You cannot give what you do not have. Period.
Okay, so when you love yourself first you set yourself free to be who you are. No matter what the situation, no matter who you are with, no matter who isn’t there-when you love yourself first you don’t need to pretend to be someone you’re not. You don’t need to be the “yes man” and appear to be in agreement with whoever the most popular person is in the room or in the conversation.
When you love yourself first, you honor your feelings about things. You honor your opinions about things. You honor yourself. You speak your truth. And when you feel it is not going to serve anybody else, you just stay quiet.
Never ever allow somebody else to tell you who and how you can be in any situation.
Similarly, know who You are in any situation and who You are remains consistent.
You may play different roles in your life. You are somebody’s child. You might be somebody’s sibling, somebody’s parent, grandparent or even somebody’s great grandparent.
You might be an employee. You might be a coach. You might be a teammate. The list goes on and on and on. And you know what? In some people’s lives, they are a different person, or appear to be a different person, in each situation, in each role – which means they have to keep their roles straight. Who are they when they are with the team? How do they behave?
When they find themselves in a different situation, in every role, they become an actor. They have to remember which lines, which moods, and which behaviors go with each role.
What kind of way is that to live life?
Somebody who loves herself first will never find herself in that predicament. When you love yourself first, there is one you. What you see is what you get – always, in all situations – no matter who is or isn’t present.
