Learn to Develop Healthy Habits in Your Life

If you learn to incorporate healthy habits in your life, it is very possible to increase your lifespan by as much as 11 years. Just think about it, that is a lot of extra time to be on this earth and this is something that is within reach by following a few simple habits.

The first thing that you need to do is to always eat breakfast and never skip it. We have always been told that it is the most important meal of the day and that is so true. There are times when people skip breakfast to lose weight, but this is not the right thing to do. When you do not eat breakfast, your blood sugar levels as well as other nutrient levels drop and this robs you of the energy and nutrition that you need to function well for the rest of your day. It is a known fact that people who eat breakfast have a more positive attitude toward school and work and they function much better. Make sure that you eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Fruits contain water that you need to keep your body hydrated and they also provide you with vitamins and nutrients that other fat-free snacks don’t. Best of all they taste good and sweet and some even contain antioxidants to help keep you looking younger.

You also need to eat your meals on a regular basis. If you end up skipping a meal, you can overeat on your next meal and do more harm then good. If you are hungry, be careful not to eat too many snacks and fill yourself up as you will not be able to eat your main meal.

If you are a smoker, quit. Studies have shown that people who quit smoking can gain back their heart functions over a period of time to that of a non-smoker. You will notice that your breathing will become easier and you will reduce the chances for heart disease, cancer and other diseases.

Make a point to get some form of exercise each and every day for at least 15 to 20 minutes. You do not have to have a professional exercise program. Choose something that you enjoy doing such as walking, running, some sort of sports, etc. and stick to it.

It is very important that you get the required amount of sleep that your body needs. Try to get at least 8 hours of quality sleep and that will certainly work towards your favor in extending your life. When you sleep, your body recharges itself and gets you ready to wake up in the morning fresh and ready to take on the day’s challenges that we all have.

The last thing is to always devote a little time to yourself each and every day of your life. You need a quiet time in your life to kick back and just let all your worries and troubles float away for a while and let nothing interrupt this time. You might choose to take a nice warm bath with  aromatherapy to help you unwind and just let go of everything.
