Yoga and Pain

Interacting with each other in everyday life, people exchange information and on the basis of information or even knowledge of trying to organize their activities to meet the interests of the results of each participant. Exchange of information is always a dialogue, without which it can never be satisfactorily taken into account the interests of both sides, so each must be formulated at the request of interest or need and pass on their understanding of the partner.

We know that the body and concluded in its consciousness is inseparable tandem, something resembling a centaur, good or bad in the long run can only be both at once. When consciousness is disposed flatly materialistic subordinate body uses it as a blind instrument of translating their thoughts and desires of service, the body meekly obeys only to a certain limit. There are two indisputable terms that are implied and mind and body to their unspoken agreement on friendship and cooperation. Namely, the body can be used somehow in the process of action, dictated by his conscience, but to maintain its integrity, while having the time and resources for recreation.

Consider the application to the practice of asana is the first essential condition is not damaged! It clearly meets the requirement of ahimsa – nonviolence, one of the principles of the “hole” as applied to himself. Again and ponder what was said to him: the requirement set out in the initial stage of Raja Yoga is called ahimsa, and reads as follows: Do not damage your body during practice! And not specify which practices, therefore, is meant as a corporal and spiritual work. This is not a wish, but a principle, it is the law, which must be respected, only then will the practice, which is in question, may be called yoga. It is used in its initial stages for the recovery of the body, but not for depression or inflicting injury.

The body is not able to verbally articulate their problems and needs; it puts them in the form of sensations of pain, hunger, thirst, sleep, fatigue. Manifestations may be neutral (temporarily uncertain, such as “I do not know what I want”), positive (the body says what it needs), negative (it says that it is not desirable for him). For example, it definitely feels that’s enough for today and the efforts of all movements – need to rest. What are contraindicated or always some kind of movement – they cause discomfort, and (or) pain.

This moment in the practice of asana is the key. Asanas for a beginner – the activity is absolutely unknown. Because the body is always one way or another come into contact with the outside world since childhood, each formed by an unconscious attempt to construct external actions aimed at the contact with things, events, and living creatures in automatic compliance with the conditions do not damage his physical shell.

But in yoga contact with the outside there is little (the reference surface does not count, it is neutral), the body works with itself and on itself, not even moving at the same horizontal plane, and this means that the unconscious “safety” of its conservation inherent in adult subjects, must be transformed to create the same stereotype in a new environment! If such a restructuring is not done consciously, sometimes a man comes to a completely distorted, traumatic practice that only the extreme short-sightedness can be identified with yoga.

In the normal state of mind and no one can come to mind, say, cleaning the apartment or washing the dishes, causing the pain itself is generally to build its business in a manner that in the course of her body was not pleasant. Only in a fit of madness of the polar Eskimos of Canada could cut with a knife his own body, usually the same person is not the enemy itself and, therefore, your body, which determines the welfare in this life too much.

When we begin to practice asanas, in fact, necessary to solve the main and only task: to negotiate with his body on acceptable terms of its self-transformation, which exist objectively, but as long as consciousness is not known. If we turn to Hatha Yoga, it seems quite clear what to do, for good pictures in the books, and even the people who can show that, accompanying this is more or less convincing explanations, of which, however, is not always clear how right to do what is prescribed in form, not to mention the fact.

“Sutras” of Patanjali and the work of later commentators to describe a peculiar form of these general principles for working with cloth body and mind, the only question is how to transfer them to the private language of each individual, it was clear to him? Try to understand this problem.

What should I do if during the execution of asanas of Hatha Yoga in the body leads to unpleasant sensations or pain? The first thing I should immediately take this into account, knowing that the body says, “Do not do unto more so with me!”

If for any reason, you need to get it, access to which blocks the pain, then have to find ways that lead to the same goal, but without the resistance of the body, without his objections and protests. What we do with them and we turned to yoga, it is necessary and helpful, the pain arises from a wrong decision on how – and this is a particular problem of effective communication of consciousness with his own body, understanding the language of his messages. It all seems very clear, but the man is not looking for easy ways, and often excess will offset the lack of mind.

The usual way of our daily lives – work in all its forms. Asanas, at least initial seem so simple, that thinking over how to implement them seems superfluous man. There is a desire to do it immediately and allowed the reaction – action, I do it all.

But to really understand what is happening – when it did not really get – you do not put pressure on the pedal, but to suspend and scrutinize. It is necessary that awareness is not drowned out by incessant activity, when really necessary labor is replaced by a continuous understanding of the senseless, mechanical repetition of the same failed action, which makes it impossible to understand what is happening.

This retains only two settings: effort and patience, which in themselves do not lead anywhere. Therefore, any kind of non-traditional practices, after some time turned into a stereotype, it becomes pathological for humans means effectively disabling mental process, which influence extends, unfortunately, not only in the area of yoga.
