Learn the Real Difference Between Plasma and LCD TV

Long time ago, consumers only settle for a good enough television screen. When major improvements in screen size and image quality came, consumers were more than happy to throw their old television sets and get a hold of the newer models. This is how we value good home entertainment. It’s always nice to know that the TV manufacturers recognize this consumers’ wish for better home viewing experience. And so as the years passed, the television technology has reached its full potential. We now enjoy big screen watching right at the comfort of our own homes.

But because of this development in TV technology, consumers got confused as to which technology to choose. Three kinds of high definition technology emerged and even more confused the consumers. Questions like which size to get, which type of screen to choose, and which one between and Plasma and LCD TV to purchase came up. So to ease that confusion, here are some guidelines you could check before finally purchasing a new TV set.

Most of the consumers now cast a vote on the LCD TV technology. Experts claim that this kind of television is sturdier and more functional than the other choices. Different sizes are available and ranges from 32 inches being the smallest up to 70 inches of screen. The LCD technology has been around for years because it is the same technology used for wristwatches. Modern technology improved it making it suitable for bigger types of home appliances such as computer monitors and televisions.

The LCD TV shows off a really thin screen measuring not more than a couple of inches deep and has a weight light enough to be mounted on the wall. Before, sizes for this TV are very limited but manufacturers like Samsung have managed to improve this issue and are now capable of creating screens as big as 108 inches.

There are only few drawbacks stated for this kind of TV technology. One is the color intensity with black not being as dark as it should be. Burn-in issues seem to be the least problem for LCD TVs. Dead pixels or spots where a pixel does not respond properly has also been reported. But these issues are now being addressed by big LCD TV manufacturers such as Samsung.

Plasma televisions, on one hand, seem to operate pretty the same as the Liquid Crystal Display TV. They have the same flat screen style and slime exterior. They differ in technology in the sense that Plasma TVs use neon and other static gases to create images on the screen. This kind of technology takes pride in their good color intensity. their blacks are rally dark that they seem to glow and the images produced are more vivid and look more real than the other kinds of TV. Their sizes vary as well but smaller screens are not available since they only have screens of 40 inches and up.

However, Plasma TVs are reviewed to give burn-in problems. This kind of technology seems to be not suitable for computer game playing. They also come a little more expensive than LCD TVs because the energy consumption is quite high. Some consumers noticed that even though they saved some cash on the initial purchase of the unit, their power consumption or electrical bill increased.

Making a choice as to which technology to choose depends mostly on your needs. It is also better that before finally purchasing one, you must get as many information as you can. Comparisons will help you choose whether Plasma or LCD TV technology suits your kind of home viewing entertainment. Understanding the positive features and negative feedbacks of a technology will really help you make the right decision.
